Don’t trust the ink - Ch 5

A dark fantasy excerpt/ short story

Author’s Notes: This is meant to give you a taste of a plot bunny I had. But who knows? It could turn into a full novel one day, especially if you like it. ; )

Darius

I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw Astra walking towards me. She’d ignored all of my letters so I wasn’t really expecting her to show.

Her pink hair stood out in the forest’s sea of green, brown, and grey. There was no mistaking it was her.

Fae eyes can see further than human ones, so I was confident I spotted her before she spotted me.

My suspicion was confirmed when she stopped in her tracks when she did see me.

I smiled at her, encouraging her to come closer.

Instead, she took a step backwards just before she turned entirely and ran away.

I sighed. I should have known she wouldn’t let this be easy for me.

The magic in the ink makes most mortals little more than my slave. But this one fought my magic. It was infuriating.

It was time to shift tactics. Fuck magic. I’d drag her back to my realm myself.

I didn’t bother chasing her through the woods then though.

Let her think she was safe—that she managed to escape me.

That just made the game more fun.

Le Fin…for now
